Tuesday June 3rd Primary - Congressman Rob Andrews

This Tuesday June 3rd is an important Primary for U.S Senate in NJ. I have included today’s endorsement from the Jersey Journal which along with the Star Ledger, Philadelphia Inquirer, The Courier-Post, and Gloucester County Times in endorsing Congressman Rob Andrews over the incumbent Senator Lautenberg. Hopefully you have the opportunity this Tuesday to join me in supporting Rob Andrews for U.S Senate.

Jersey Journal editorial
Give your vote to Rob Andrews
Friday, May 30, 2008

T his newspaper believes that whoever wins the Democratic nomination for the U.S. Senate should be the voters' choice in November.

Hoboken 's Robert Menendez is already a strong representative for the Garden State in the Senate and his partner should be a well-rounded, driven individual capable of achieving results.

For these reasons, The Jersey Journal endorses U.S. Rep. Rob Andrews for the Senate to replace incumbent Frank Lautenberg. Morristown Mayor Donald Cresitello, a third Democratic candidate, is not under serious consideration here.

Lautenberg, who is seeking a fifth term, has brought home "the bacon," federal funds for mass transit, highway capital improvements, and port projects. This time around, beyond political catch phrases, he does not provide much detail about what he will do if re-elected.

This is not a time to reward someone for past efforts. There are very serious problems facing New Jersey and the nation, and only the best qualified need apply.

Andrews, 50, is highly capable of articulating his positions, which include ending President Bush's tax cuts for the rich. "It would bring $1.5 trillion to the federal treasury," he said. "We can have a serious discussion about more money for brownfields and more money for education, and more money for the other priorities that we have."

It would also help fund health care for 47 million who have no health insurance. On immigration reform, Andrews favors getting tough with employers. He wants government to expand eligibility of Pell grants to include the middle class to finance college education. He also favors ending use of the Electoral College to select a president.

Andrews says he regrets his early support of the Iraq War, along with many others, and he touts a withdrawal plan he released 20 months ago.

Lautenberg, 84, dismissed the notion that age should be an issue. The senator thought it was important when he first won the Senate seat in 1980 by defeating Rep. Millicent Fenwick, 80. It should be a concern for voters who may feel Lautenberg may not complete a six-year term of office.

A Fulop endorsement is the kiss of death.

The carpetbagger boy is very politically naive and has not come to realize no one cares who he endorses as it carries no weight.

Hmm I believe I've read that on PolitickerNJ and on JCList... Your going to different sites and trying to smear him by saying the same thing. Fulop's endorsement is smack to Lautenberg's fanbase and a kiss from you to his @$$. Enjoy!

A Fulop endorsement amounts to exactly what he is:

A big fat zero!

Guaranteed every one of those teenagers with lautenberg signs and screams at the bayonne andrews event are on the list to be hired by the county (read HCDO) for summer jobs. No protest, no job. Is the HCDO that scared? How many of those kids could even spell lautenberg without looking at the signs.? Craig and Buddy set up this childishness on paid county job time.

The JJ is not going to get away with the Andrews endorsement since it didn't get Porkey Pig's approval. THe JJ will pay for this misstep by orders of Senore' Porkey Pig Menendez.
