FROM LANDFILL TO LANDMARK

Parks and open spaces are a critical facet of the health of our children, the quality and value of our neighborhoods and the well being of our city. The 87 acre PJP Landfill can be one of the most significant and exciting open space projects in Westside’s Ward B and in our City’s history. Eco-educational opportunities, senior and youth recreation, arts and cultural events, waterfront recreation, pathways for walking, bicycle trails, waterfront walkway, picnicking, fishing, indoor track & field center, indoor tennis center, indoor aquatic center and more.

Call Councilwoman Spinello at 201-547-5092 or 201-432-4645 x650
Tell Her To Vote “NO” on the AMB Warehouse/Truck Project

Press Release???? Where is the name and contact of the person who posted? It's not a press release and it;s not even factual.

Talk about a bunch of lies.

87 acres?? Not!!, you can't even get your facts straight.

By the sounds of it Anthony, You are putting in a resort and spa down there on that toxic dump.

You forgot to mention GOLF!

While i don't think the things that Press release wants on that site are doable considering the contamination,i do agree that the big box warehouse is the wrong way to go.
Ward B has its own waterfront that could really spur the kind of development that would be a better asset to the City than a warehouse district full of trucks. The HMDC just released a study which states how clean the river has gotten in that area.Has anyone in Ward B even seen the water in the last 20 yrs.I'm not saying we'll be swiming in it but what about our grandkids.
ABOUT THE DEAL.Spinello was agianst the warehouse for traffic reasons but now is leaning toward it because they are going to move it a half a block. What happened to the traffic? If they move it and take away the truck companys that are there now the jobs everyone is promoting will be a wash.A golf course AND a big box warehouse is not a compromise its a political deal which makes the politicians happy but screws ward B.
We need to let Councilwoman Spinello know there will be consequences for her actions.Mary getting a raise at the incinerater auth.for her vote will only make this backroom deal look worse and may start a law suit to remove her from working there since by all accounts her employment by a city agency is a conflict of interest.

You point out about the traffic? There have been two studies, one an independent study, found the traffic would not increase if the designs requested would be adhered to. DId you ever consider this is truck route 1&9 and no traffic is allowed onto residental streets. It's a mess already.

You forgot to mention this but want to misinformation and misrepresent what this project really is instead spewing about a non exisitant 87 acre Press Release.

No one has talked about:

1) the benefits of JOBs and tax rateables
2) the unrealistic golf course or the costs to bring that land to this level,
3) Eminent Domain which would tak place if the county had it's way as it's seizes private property in order to accomplish their open space
4) the cost to tax payers

5) Most importantly, Conflict of Interest - the fact that the County is on record wanting to purchase this land and if the three Jersey City council people who vote NO on this, and who are also high level county employees - managers, willing vote and know that this property will land in the hand of the county and benfit their employer reaks of conflict of interests. Especially since one of thos e council persons ( Mr Potato Head) will directly benefit as the Driector of the county Parks.
