As Citizens, we all proudly support the brave men and women who dedicated their lives to PROTECT and SERVE in the Jersey City Police Department. In an attempt to better serve our great City, the people of Jersey City are organizing a city wide rally to address recent public safety concerns with our elected officials.

Purpose: To address the SYSTEM OF POLICING in Jersey City & the current state of PUBLIC SAFETY. This rally will be a forum for seniors, residents, business owners, and all people of Jersey City to speak put on this very important issue.

Public Opinion questions the goals and success of the REACTIVE system of Policing being exercised today. While the murder rate has decline from 2005 to 2006, experiencing crime (in general) is a part of everyday life and an adverse reality in Jersey City. While acknowledging the limited resources of our tax dollars to increase the man power available to the Jersey City Police Department (currently estimated at 850 Police Officers city wide), innovative management must be demanded in order to better service the general public. As many "Quality of Life" issues have evolved into "Life Threatening" issues, living in fear is simply NOT ACCEPTABLE! A PROACTIVE system of policing will impact local crime and it is needed now more then ever. As an example, an issue that can be raised at the rally is the continued practice of promotions within the JCPD. It can be argued that this practice negatively impacts service to the public because it limits the availability of active Police Officers on the streets.

Objective: To advise our elected officials charged with the care of the public's safety to change the status quo and institute an efficient and PROACTIVE system of Policing in Jersey City.

PLEASE NOTE: This rally WILL NOT be a forum for the public to exchange tips (specific crime and concerns) with the JCPD (Ex. Suspicious activity, drug dealing, and quality of life issues). In other words, "tell us where the crime is and we will fix it" will not be permitted. Anyone interrupting the rally in this manner will be stopped. However, the JCPD does needs your help to address those issues so please report your concerns at once: 201.547.5477

Does anyone know who leads the JERSEY CITY PRIDE COMMITTEE? How many people are involved?

It's curious that the VIP list includes almost everybody except the President and the Pope. Everyone listed is INVITED. Who has confirmed that they will attend?
